Having run this event for the previous 9 years, Activate’s challenge was to work with the client team to create something different both for the conference and party elements of this event. The meeting content was based around the theme ‘Ahead of the Curve’ and therefore we were asked to assist with both the concept development and on-site delivery of this message.

The initial solution to the event brief was the selection of the Hilton Brighton Metropole as the venue for the event. This was based on the location being within an hour’s journey time most delegates together with the variety and flexibility of event space on-site, and provision of the majority of accommodation under one roof.
We met the presentation brief by proposing a large ultra-wide screen format giving the ability for the multiple media elements to be viewed simultaneously. This included PowerPoint, video, voting/live-chat and live-camera to support a range of different presentation formats.
We also created an app to enable live delegate feedback which was the central element of a leadership Q&A panel at the end of the day.
The Gala Dinner was to take place back in the main conference space, which involved a hectic two hours to turn it from conference into a highly impactful ‘Grease’ themed party venue.
Following dinner and the presentation of a small number of staff awards, we supported the theme with a bespoke interactive theatrical performance by a West End cast. We rounded off the night with a 13-piece soul band, and a 50’s-style fun fair, complete with dodgems and an American Diner for late night snacks and drinks to keep the party going until the small hours.
